Conclusion
The New Orleans Axeman attacked 13 people of the course of 1911-1919. The Axeman disappeared in October of 1919, and authorities eventually stopped looking. A woman named Esther Albano, also known as Mrs. Mike Pepitone, killed a year later, Joseph Mumfre off of the pacific coast. This woman was the widow of the Axeman’s last attack. Pepitone said she believed the man she was looked like the man the day she saw her husband dead. No one was arrested for the crimes of the New Orleans Axeman.
